Biografia
Soy Gádor Salmerón, y "Testigos del Agua" es mi forma de dialogar con el pasado de mi padre, Gracián. Crecí viendo cómo él atesoraba sus recuerdos en álbumes físicos, bajo la ilusión de que estarían a salvo para siempre. Cuando el agua inundó su despacho, sentí que no solo se llevaba fotografías, sino una parte irremplazable de nuestra historia familiar.
Sin embargo, mi formación en Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Granada me ha enseñado a transformar la destrucción en una segunda oportunidad. Allí he aprendido a educar la mirada: a dejar de simplemente ver esos álbumes dañados para empezar a mirarlos como obra.
No me considero solo una fotógrafa en este proyecto; mi labor ha sido reconstruir la memoria. Me niego a dejar que el olvido gane la batalla, y por eso utilizo la tecnología para sanar lo que la naturaleza rompió.
"I am Gádor Salmerón, and 'Witnesses of the Water' is my way of entering into a dialogue with the past of my father, Gracián. I grew up watching him treasure his memories in physical albums, under the illusion that they would be safe forever. When the water flooded his study, I felt that it washed away not only photographs, but an irreplaceable part of our family history.
However, my Fine Arts studies at the University of Granada have taught me to transform destruction into a second chance. It was there that I learned to train my gaze: to stop simply seeing these damaged albums and start looking at them as a work of art.
I do not consider myself just a photographer in this project; my task has been to reconstruct memory. I refuse to let oblivion win the battle, which is why I use technology to heal what nature broke."
